Mixing in Dolby Atmos (Spatial Audio) with Kenny Cash of Factory Underground

After working together on an immersive audio remix of "There She Was" by the pop band Similar Kind, Factory Underground's Co-Owner and In-House Producer, Kenny Cash sat down to talk with Greg Tobler, engineer and owner of Tobler Audio to discuss mixing in Dolby Atmos (aka Spatial Audio in Apple-speak.) They discuss the general workflow and techniques used to mix in immersive audio.

Emmy Award winning audio professional Greg Tobler has spent the last 20 years working closely with many of the worlds largest artists, brands, sports franchises, and venues to provide quality audio solutions. Working in music, film, TV, advertising, VR, sports, events, and installations collectively have given him a unique skill set, depth of knowledge, and most importantly experience.

He is applying his accumulated knowledge now to the world of 360 video’s and VR. Working directly with the developers and software engineers, he is pioneering new techniques in binaural sound, high order ambisonics, 5.1, 7.1, Dolby Atmos and discrete 128 channel audio.

He has traveled around the world for several documentary films providing location audio services and has seen those films through the audio post process for final delivery. He is based out of Stamford CT, but works worldwide.
